Sports fencing is technique oriented as usual.
All members training HEMA are welcome to try out freeplay with nylons, provided You pass the control test.
Next year training will continue sometime in January. Stay tuned.

Free fencing 19:45-21:00 (19:45 -> to get in before doors close and 15 min individual warm-up, primarily for sports epee)

HEMA advanced 19:30-21:00 (Research, discussion and testing. Everyone is welcome but do not expect any actual training.)

Beginners' course in Olympic fencing: epee
Beginners' course in Olympic fencing weapon epee begins on Monday 3.9.
This time the balance is heavy on private lessons. Course consists of 5 private lessons and group training.
Training times are
Mondays 18.30-19.45 (15 minutes common warm-up, three 20 minutes private lessons)
Wednesdays 19.45-21.00 (15 minutes common warm-up, three 20 minutes private lessons)
Private lessons are booked personally (email, phone) before said training day but not for the first time (3.9.).
Course holds max 6 people in order of sign up and is K13.
Price is 70€/50€, including annual membership and access to both HEMA (K15) and Olympic fencing beginners' courses and the rest of the period.
Members can get a competition license or a training insurance (includes HEMA) through Finnish Fencing Association.

VaMi at Night of the Arts - VaMi Taiteiden Yössä
VaMi will demonstrate few key techniques of HEMA at Vaasa Night of the Arts tomorrow 9.8.
We will be on site at City Library yard 16-20 and have demonstrations at 17 and 19.
You can also try out sports fencing with epee as a short individual lesson with a coach.

HEMA exhibition and info event 11.2.
On Saturday 11.2. VaMi presents an exhibition and information event on Historical European Martial Arts at our salle.
Doors open at 13:00.We begin at 14:00 and continue to around 15:00. You have time for questions untill doors close at 16:00.
We will go through selected techniques;
messer from a 14th century manuscript "Codex Wallerstein",
grappling, dagger and longsword from the beginning of the 15th century "Flos Duellatorum",
longsword and dagger from "Arte Gladiatoria Dimicandi" at the end of the same century,
basket-hilt sword from 16th century "Brief Instructions Upon My Paradoxes of Defence",
rapier from the 17th century "Great Representation of the Art and Use of Fencing"
and finally small sword from the 18th century "The School of Fencing".
Also available is some coffee, tea and bun for Your convenience.

Beginners courses spring 2012
Beginners course for Historical European Martial Arts or HEMA begins on Monday 13.2. and lasts for four weeks with two training sessions per week (Monday and Friday). It will cover the basics in moving and body mechanics, advancing to techniques according to master Fiore dei Liberi in grappling, dagger, longsword and spear. Course is K15 and can hold 10 people, in order of sign up.
Beginners course for Olympic fencing in epee begins on Wednesday 15.2. and lasts for eight weeks with one training session per week (Wednesday). It will cover footwork and basic techniques. Course is K13 and can hold 10 people, in order of sign up.

VaMi is back!
Training will continue as normal, starting 9.1.2012. A demonstration on the systems we train is due sometime in the beginning of February, soon after which the beginners courses will begin. Stay tuned!
